Psychopathic personality traits, which are seen in serial killers, white collar criminals (Madoff?), some compulsive ‘womanizers’, as well as people you might encounter in daily life (your boss?) may be officially recognized by DSM 5, the latest edition of psychiatry’s diagnostic bible scheduled to come out in May 2013. Until now, only antisocial personality disorder, which doesn’t present a complete picture of this type of individual, was included in the manual. The two labels may now be merged. High time! More to come.
